Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe
The Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe has evolved directly from the S'Klallam Tribe, which has inhabited the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state for more than 10,000 years. The SKlallam Tribe (meaning "strong people") have always depended on the sea for their livelihood and subsistence. Under Treaty Law the Jamestown SKlallam have exclusive rights to manage and harvest shellfish from the tribes traditional fishing areas. Tribal members fish for geoduck, oysters and Manila clams.
